Helping the Community
Sussex Flying Club supports some very worthwhile local charities and organisations for fund raising, such as Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice and the Rockinghorse Appeal.
Here is an extract from a nice letter we recently received from a local school who were donated an SFC Trial Flying Lesson voucher as a raffle prize:

Ducati comes to SFC
We were pleased to welcome Ernesto Marinelli, the Ducati World Superbike Team Manager, to Sussex flying Club on a recent visit to the UK. He and his partner came for a flight in one of our Piper Warrior aircraft and spent about an hour in the air taking in the sights of sussex. Ernesto took the controls for most of the flight and was keen to learn the rudiments of handling the aircraft. After receiveing a guided tour of the MCA maintenance hangar he took to the skies again, this time just Ernesto and instructor, for some circuit training, where Ernie made several quite reasonable landings. Pretty quick progress for a novice student..! We look forward to another visit next time he is in the UK.

Another Commercial Success!
Sussex Flight Centre has completed another student who has obtained his Commercial Pilots Licence with us. Nick Mortimer achieved a first series pass on September 18th; a few days after a previous CPL student obtained a first time pass.
The minimum training time for ab-initio CPL students is twenty five hours and both Nick and the previous student, completed their CPLs in less than thirty hours each.
Sussex Flight Centre offer CPL training on the PA28 Warrior III aircraft and the final ten hours are completed in the PA28 Arrow complex type aircraft. This successful type combination clearly works well.
